Dr. “Jerry” Grant is currently staff Maxillofacial Prosthodontist and resident coordinator at the VHC Dental Clinic, Lexington, Va. after spending 6 years as the Interim Director of the Graduate Prosthodontics Program and Assistant Dean, Advanced Digital Technologies and Innovation at the School of Dentistry and the Associate Director of the Additive Manufacturing Institute of Science and Technology at the Speed School of Engineering, University of Louisville.  He retired in 2015 after 33 years of service with the United States Navy as the Service Chief of the 3D Medical Applications Center, Department of Radiology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center – a center he established in 2010 for research, development and use of 3d printing and digital design for treatment of Wounded Warriors world-wide. He received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry in 1985, a certificate in Prosthodontics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, Bethesda, MD and a Masters from George Washington University in 1995, and a certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 1999.  He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Past president for the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Advance Digital Technologies Foundation, and the President of the American College of Prosthodontists.  He is currently a Director of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Grant has authored or co-authored over 50 peer reviewed articles, 4 book chapters on the use of digital technologies in head and neck reconstruction, and co-author of the book ‘3D Printing in Medicine’, holds 5 patents on cranial navigation, and lectures both nationally and internationally.  He continues his research efforts at the VA in the validation and applications of Advanced Digital Dental Technologies, virtual surgical applications, Advanced Digital Applications in the design and fabrication of medical devices for craniofacial reconstruction with Additive Manufacturing, dental restoration and rehabilitation, and recently in bio-printing/bio-fabrication.
