Welcome Students

An Invitation for Students in Prosthodontic Training Programs

Dear Doctor:

I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your choice to pursue training in the specialty of Prosthodontics. I look forward to having you join us soon as a colleague within our specialty. I would now like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us as a colleague in the specialty of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. As you are learning during your training in Prosthodontics, Maxillofacial Prosthodontists provide care to patient populations having some of the most unique and challenging medical conditions seen within the specialty. It requires the type of capability and creativity that is best exemplified by future Prosthodontists such as you.

Apart from your ongoing training, one of the most effective means of acquiring new knowledge and to share it with others is through regular interactions with your colleagues. And one of the best ways to take advantage of these collegial interactions is through membership in allied prosthodontic organizations such as the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. As one of the premier organizations within the specialty, Academy members are afforded the interactive support and mentorship that only comes from belonging to an organization that claims as members many of the most highly recognized and experienced clinicians within the specialty today. Members also benefit from the opportunity to attend the annual meetings that showcase the latest trends and innovations now taking place within the specialty. The organization, in turn, benefits from fresh ideas that new members such as you bring. The result is a living dynamic organization that continually grows to meet the needs of the membership and the patients whom they serve.

Therefore, on behalf of the Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, I would like to extend to you the offer to become a student member of the Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. As a student member of the Academy, your annual membership dues will be waived. Your eligibility for this waiver will continue for as long as you remain in your training in Prosthodontics.

Further, by applying for the Associate Fellow Membership through the fellowship committee during the final year of your prosthodontic program your dues and meeting registration fees will be waived for the year of graduation. After your acceptance by the board of Directors into Associate Fellow Membership, your dues and meeting registration fees will be waived for a second year following completion of your training. After this second post training year of waived of fees, a dues statement will be sent to you for Associate Fellow dues for the next year.

We would love to have you share your newly acquired knowledge with our membership. You should submit an application for the Poster Competition at the annual meeting. A $1,500.00 first place award and a $1,000.00 second place award are offered to the top posters. To submit poster abstracts, go to the current conference website. Note that you must have completed a student application on the AAMP website before submitting abstracts or registering as an AAMP student member.

Please find on this website a Student Membership Application Form and complete it online at your earliest convenience. The application is not complete until your program director verifies your enrollment and your date of completing the program.

Sincerely,

Executive Secretary Treasurer
