Dr. Asif Ahmed, BDS, MDS, is a Associate Consultant (Maxillofacial Prosthodontist) in the Department of Dental Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Tata Medical Center, a high-volume tertiary cancer centre in Kolkata, India. His clinical practice is dedicated to the rehabilitation of head-and-neck cancer patients with complex intraoral and extraoral defects, with a particular focus on obturators, maxillofacial silicone prostheses, and implant-supported restorations. 

Dr. Ahmed completed his BDS from Bapuji Dental College & Hospital, Davangere, and his MDS in Prosthodontics from Darshan Dental College & Hospital, Udaipur. He has previously worked in private practice and as a Prosthodontist in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, gaining broad experience in full-mouth rehabilitation, removable and fixed prosthodontics, and general dentistry before moving into full-time oncology-based practice. 

At Tata Medical Center, he is actively involved in pre-surgical and pre-radiation dental evaluation, intraoperative planning of implants and obturators, and long-term functional rehabilitation of cancer survivors. His work spans outpatient care, operating room collaboration with surgical and plastic teams, and preventive protocols for patients undergoing radiotherapy, chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation, or bisphosphonate therapy.

Dr. Ahmed has conducted hands-on workshops in maxillofacial prosthetics,Fibula and Zygomatic implants (including the “OroRehab – 2020” program,Impact and Impact II in 2023 and 2024 respectively), presented at national meetings, and received recognition such as a Best Poster Award at a national prosthodontic conference. He has authored multiple case reports, case series, and review articles in peer-reviewed journals .

His professional interests include maxillofacial prosthetics, dental oncology, implant rehabilitation in oncology patients, and improving access to high-quality prosthodontic care in resource-constrained settings.
