The College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University seeks a maxillofacial prosthodontist for a full-time, clinical track position as an associate professor or professor, in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry, with a joint appointment at Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The primary responsibilities of the position are performed in the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital's Head and Neck Service at the Wexner Medical Center. The position’s duties include administrative and supervisory oversight of the professional and laboratory support staff; attending tumor board sessions; assisting in developing clinical protocols; and providing patients with the full scope of intraoral and extraoral maxillofacial prosthodontic care.

The College of Dentistry is one of Ohio State's seven health science colleges. It is comprised of ten academic divisions, and it supports eight ADA-recognized dental specialty residencies, a General Practice Residency, and a PhD program in oral biology. The college is physically connected to the seven hospitals at the Wexner Medical Center, and it is the only state-supported dental school in Ohio. The college currently ranks 13th in the nation among U.S. dental schools for NIH funding.

The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital is one of 45 National Comprehensive Cancer Hospitals, and it is the third largest cancer hospital in the U. S. The Head and Neck Service spans a broad range of disciplines that include medical and radiation oncologists; head and neck surgeons; maxillofacial prosthodontists; voice and swallowing specialists; molecular and biological pathologists; genetic scientists and more - all specializing in a specific type of head and neck cancer research, prevention, detection, treatment, and care.

Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent, in addition to certificates of advanced education in prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics from CODA-accredited programs. They must also be board-certified and eligible for licensure by the Ohio State Board of Dentistry (dental.ohio.gov/Licensure/Dentist). Preference is given to those with significant clinical and administrative experience. Other duties of the position include serving as a preceptor for prosthodontic residents who rotate through the Head and Neck Service, providing clinical instruction in the College of Dentistry prosthodontic residency clinic, and participating as an active faculty member in College's governance. Opportunities to engage in biomaterials, and clinical and translational research are also available.
