Awards
The AAMP encourages research among its members and guests and conducts an Annual Research/Poster Award Competition. Award recipients are given honoraria and are recognized during the Annual Academy banquet.
Periodically an Academy Fellow who has made significant contributions to Maxillofacial Prosthetics and the AAMP during his/her professional career is honored by presentation of the Ackerman Award (in recognition of Dr. Andrew J. Ackerman -- 1961).
The Barron Award was established in remembrance of Dr. Joseph B. Barron, Past President of the AAMP and Ackerman Award Winner, to recognize Maxillofacial Prosthetic Residents who exemplify personal qualities and academic prowess with a potential to be major contributors to the specialty, Fellows in the Academy, and future leaders.
